The Iraq Transitional Assistance Group, ITAG, is a multilateral stabilization strategy for Iraq.  The ITAG provides an innovative strategy that is not "staying the course," nor a "precipitous withdrawal."  The ITAG permits the simultaneous achievement of both a stable, democratic Iraq and a redeployment of American combat forces.

The primary goals of the ITAG strategy are:

 - Remove US combat forces from Iraq in order to end the anti-occupation insurgency and reduce the violence destroying Iraq and Iraqi lives

 - Put Iraq on a secure path towards accomplishing the goals of the Iraqis—goals shared by the United States and the international community—as expressed in the International Compact with Iraq and the Istanbul Foreign Ministers’ Communiqué

 - Restore US defense capabilities and return our focus to the hunt for Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaeda leadership that attacked us on September 11th, 2001.

The development and promotion of the ITAG strategy has been, and continues to be, a private effort.  The strategy has been introduced to several US Senate offices and opinion leaders.  The effort requires a grassroots movement to help achieve Iraqi goals and to bring US combat forces home.
